Shropshire Studios was appointed to transform a Grade II listed building in Codsall into an award‑winning destination restaurant for renowned Thai chef Suree. The project sets out to respectfully reimagine a historic setting while delivering a contemporary hospitality experience rooted in warmth, atmosphere and refined detail.
The design vision blends tradition with modern luxury — creating a space that feels immersive, memorable and effortlessly inviting, while celebrating both the building’s heritage and the chef’s culinary identity.
PROJECT OVERVIEW
DESIGN INSPIRATION
Drawing inspiration from a curated mix of global hospitality references, the concept balances drama with comfort and craftsmanship with restraint.
Key influences include:
The vibrant, layered elegance of Benjarong, Dubai
The refined material palette and atmospheric depth of Orelle, Birmingham
The immersive, sensory storytelling found within Tattu Birmingham
These references inform a design language that feels rich and experiential without overwhelming the historic fabric of the building.
The interior concept focuses on:
Respecting and enhancing the character of a Grade II listed structure
Layered materials that add warmth, tactility and depth
Soft lighting and intimate zoning to create a sense of comfort and escapism
A balance of traditional influences with contemporary detailing
A dining environment that feels both elevated and welcoming
