The Winery No. 2 is the evolution of a successful wine bar brand, expanding into a larger Grade II listed property on Stony Stratford High Street. Shropshire Studios was appointed to deliver a design‑led hospitality interior that balances heritage sensitivity with modern luxury, creating an immersive wine‑led destination that elevates guest experience while improving operational flow.
This project builds on the identity of the original venue, introducing deeper layers of atmosphere, intimacy and storytelling — all within the constraints of a historic building.

The design draws inspiration from traditional wine cellars and European wine culture — layered lighting, deep tones, tactile materials and moments of drama balanced with warmth. Each area was designed to feel intimate, encouraging guests to linger, explore and return.
THE CONCEPT
KEY FEATURE
A former Lloyds Bank vault was transformed into a hidden cellar experience — the heart of the venue.
At its centre sits a Sommeliér’s Table, designed as a wine‑led equivalent of a chef’s table. This space allows guests to enjoy curated tastings, guided storytelling and private experiences within a dramatic cellar setting.
Design details include:
Deep burgundy finishes
Low‑level mood lighting
Integrated wine storage walls
Intimate seating for hosted tastings
This feature transforms the venue from a wine bar into a destination experience unlike anything else on the High Street.
The Winery No. 2 delivers a refined, immersive hospitality experience that enhances dwell time, increases spend‑per‑head and strengthens brand identity — all while respecting the character of a listed building.
