Shropshire Studios was appointed to deliver the concept design for Honest Roots, a hospitality-led space designed within a converted shipping container, challenging the perception of temporary architecture and redefining it as a considered, permanent destination.

The project focuses on transforming a raw, industrial structure into an experience-led environment that balances honesty in materials with a softened, nature-led atmosphere. The design celebrates the existing framework, exposing RSJs and structural elements as a core feature, while layering planting, natural textures and warmth throughout to create contrast and depth.

The space has been carefully designed to extend beyond its physical footprint. A rooftop terrace, wrapped in glazed balustrades, introduces light, openness and vertical experience, while the ground-level extension forms a covered dining area that feels both sheltered and connected to its surroundings.

The result is a space where architecture and environment work together,allowing materials to speak, creating a strong identity, and delivering an experience that feels intuitive, grounded and intentional.
